Question: Looking at the shaver sockets that are installed in bathrooms, these do not have any manual switch, but only an in-built automatic switch provided. This energises when the plug is inserted. Any internal fault may lead to 'mis-happenings'. Is it wise to provide a separate switch to control this shaver socket from outside the bathroom for extra safety?

Answer: No, a separate switch is not required. These units use electrical separation as the means of protection and any internal fault would be unlikely to lead to electric shock.
