Solar cell electronic component plant for Japan

[2008-3-28]

A new solar cell plant in Sakai, western Japan, is to be built by Japanese electronics maker Sharp Corporation.

The company will spend about 72 billion yen on what will be the world’s largest solar cell plant.

The plant will be built at the same time as Sharp’s 380 billion yen LCD panel operation.

Sharp is one of the world’s solar companies which is expanding production capacity to meet growing demand for green energy to counter global warming.
