ANDOVER, Mass., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Napatech today announcesthe latest release calledNEWARK for their NT family of 1 Gbpshigh-performance network adapters for PCI-Express. TheNEWARKrelease includes these new additional features to the earlierannouncedANAHEIM andTUCSON software releases:

The DMA-based statistics further enhance the comprehensive Napatechset of statistics already available. The full RMON standardextended with jumbo frame counters on a per-port basis are nowavailable for both captured and discarded frames. TheNEWARK releasefurther brings a number of useful "good/bad" statistics per filter(64) and per host buffer (32). These statistics are presented as"snapshots," which are transferred to the host through a separateDMA process followed by a time stamp. The new advanced statisticsallow appliances/applications to present a very detailed view ofthe network traffic at practically zero CPU load.
The new features described above are added to the alreadyfeature-rich product line offered to Napatech's OEM customers. Thehigh-performance adapters already include line rate capture andprocessing of frames up to 20 Gbps, 10 ns time-stamping of everypacket, channel merging, frame classification, conditional dynamicslicing, 64 user-programmable filters, packet coloring,deduplication, support for 32 CPU cores, and more. The feature setsupports Linux, FreeBSD and Windows, and includes a programminginterface and development tools.
