Thermo Fisher extends rheometer platform application range

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc, a world specialist in servingscience, recently launched a new accessory for its ThermoScientific HAAKE MARS rheometer platform. The SER (SentmanatExtension Rheometer) system extends a conventional steadyrotational rheometer into a robust extensional rheometer for meltsand semi-solids.

The SER system, exclusively built by Xpansion Instruments, wasdeveloped by Dr. Martin Sentmanat and can be adapted to the HAAKEMARS rheometer. The measuring principle is based on clamping asample between two counter rotating wind-up drums. Measurements incontrolled extensional rate mode as well as controlled tensilestress mode are both supported. In addition to the uniaxialextension, the system also supports solid tensile testing, pear andpeel testing, as well as friction testing.
