The new solution enablesusers to successfully build loop applications by using two fiberports 3 and 4 to cascade together a ring, while still utilizing theMII interface on port 5 to the CPU/Host. The highly versatiledevice is ideal for Industrial Ethernet, Managed Media converters,and FTTx customer premise equipment in the Telecommunications andEnterprise markets. The KSZ8995FQ also offers a highly integrated Layer 2 managedswitch solution with optimized bill of materials (BOM) cost for lowport count, cost-sensitive 10/100Mbps switch systems. It providesan extensive feature set such as tag/port-based VLAN, quality ofservice (QoS) priority, management, MIB counters, dual MIIinterfaces and CPU control/data interfaces to effectively addressboth current and emerging fast Ethernet applications. The KSZ8995FQcontains five 10/100 transceivers with patented mixed-signallow-power technology, five media access control (MAC) units, ahigh-speed non-blocking switch fabric, a dedicated address look-upengine, and an on-chip frame buffer memory.
