For effortless and simple presentations without any restrictivecabling, the NEC NP905 comes equipped with a USB interface andsupports Vista Windows Network Projector feature for integratedplug & play wireless-LAN functionality. Even when the projectoris remotely positioned, thanks to its Ethernet networkconnectivity, projector information can be called up at any time aswell as data transmitted to it – even when the data source isalso a large distance away. At the projector itself, the WindowsRemote-Desktop-Function additionally allows these functions to becalled up on an attached network PC, since a USB mouse and keyboardcan both be connected to the projector.

Windows Vista's own simple and user-friendly application"Windows Network Projector" also allows users to senddata displayed on a PC monitor to the projector. No additionalsoftware or administrator rights are required for this. It goeswithout saying that all network functions can also be performedusing cable connections and the RJ45 interface.

The projector exploits the latest technology to score highly invideo picture quality. It employs Silicon Optix's HQV technology(often found in digital cinema equipment as well as otherapplications) to ensure the best possible image reproduction. Thetechnology guarantees excellent noise suppression, deinterlacing,high quality reproduction of detail and film-mode recognition. Abrightness of 3,000 ANSI lumens and XGA resolution all ensurebrilliant image quality. An innovation in this product class is theDICOM (digital imaging and communication in medicine) simulationfunction which has been incorporated into the NEC NP905. Thisallows medical data images to be reproduced with fine gray-scalegradations for use, as an example, in training or teaching courses.

The NEC NP905 is suited for a multitude of applications. Evensituations with restricted space are easily handled: it offers1.2-times optical zoom, as well as vertical (up to 30 degrees) andhorizontal (up to 40 degrees) keystone correction. The 3D Reformfunction compensates for diagonal distortions, for example due tolaterally-skewed or inclined projection surfaces. Using the wallcolour correction function, the projector can also adjust thecolour balance of the displayed image. This compensates for anycolour shading of the projection surface, to offer true colourreproduction - all at the touch of a button. Optional softwareavailable at no extra cost also allows geometric correction forrounded, arched or cylindrical surfaces to achieve distortion-freeprojection.

To achieve maximum flexibility, the NEC NP905 has been equippedwith numerous connection ports. Reproduction of coded HD video andHDTV content is possible due to the digital HDMI interface (withHDCP). In addition, the projector offers two VGA inputs as well asS-video, video and audio inputs, and a 3.5mm stereo audio output.The analogue PC output also allows the connection of an externalmonitor. The projector can be controlled and maintained via theRJ45 or RS-232 ports. A particular feature for video images is theintegrated USB viewer. It permits the direct connection of externaldata storage devices to the projector so that stored video files(MPEG2) can be played back with exceptional ease. For optimumpresentation of picture content, the NEC NP905 also comes withparallel representation functions, such as picture-in-picture orside-by-side modes, where two signals can be simultaneouslydisplayed. Users can either choose to image a small video picturewithin a full-sized video picture, or display the two picturesalongside each other – this is especially popular for videoconferencing.
