Templeton fire chief outlines grant use

The grant was given to the department by FM Global, a businessproperty insurer. According to the press release from FM Global,fire continues to be the leading cause of commercial and industrialproperty damage worldwide.

Michael Spaziani, manager of FM Global's fire prevention program,said, At FM Global, we believe the majority of property damage ispreventable not inevitable and we are pleased to make fundingavailable to organizations like the Templeton Fire Department thatshare the same philosophy. After all, it's much better to prevent adisaster than to recover from one.

Chief Smith's photos will be included in a training film. Ideally,when firefighters go to a major fire, they will already know wherethere might be problems, instead of being surprised while they arein the midst of fighting a fire.

There will be no additional cost to the town for labor, the chiefsaid, because the training is already planned for and I will bedoing the research on my time.
