Closing Glance: Web Software, Services
[2008-4-15]
Shares of Internet software and services companies mostly dipped Monday along with the broader market, as investors' worries about corporate earnings continued in the wake of disappointing quarterly reports from Wachovia Corp. and Royal Philips Electronics NV.
Among the biggest decliners was Akamai Technologies Inc., which fell after Jefferies & Co. analyst Katherine Egbert said in a client note the company appears to have weaker than expected bookings, light traffic and deals appear to be slipping as wider economic woes are hitting the company.
Here is a look at how some key Internet software and services companies performed Monday:
Google Inc. fell $5.79 to $451.66.
Yahoo Inc. fell 54 cents, or 2 percent, to $27.80.
EBay Inc. rose 50 cents to $31.37.
VeriSign Inc. fell 12 cents to $33.09.
Akamai Technologies Inc. fell 79 cents, or 2.6 percent, to $29.60.
