STEENBERGEN [12.06.08] Dutch natural textile dye producer RubiaPigmenta Naturalia has achieved GOTS accreditation for its RubiaRed dye, which is extracted from the perennial plant Rubiatinctorum L., otherwise known as madder.
The company says that this 100 % natural dye extract has now passedall requirements for GOTS and was registered effective 11 April2008. A copy of the official certificate is available on request.
The advantage for our customers is that final products that areproduced in compliance with these standards can be GOTS labelled(Global Organic Textile Standard), which is becoming morerecognised in the market and encourages buying decisionssignificantly, said managing director Anco Sneep.
Rubia Red, the vegetable colouring extract, which Rubia PigmentaNaturalia at present produces from madder, is said to cover a 40%range of the total colour spectrum, in a range of differentapplications. In the future, Rubia says it aims to market morevegetable colouring agents, thereby offering its customers the fullcolour spectrum in a natural dye range.
The company says that this natural dye comes as a vegetablecolouring agent in a powdered form, which includes other colouringagents present in the extract. These colouring agents ensure aspecial colour glow, which cannot be equalled by synthetic alizarin[red colour], says the company.
