HP earns EPEAT Gold for entire workstation line

April 25, 2008—HP recently announced that its entire personalworkstation line has become the first in the category to achieve a"Gold" listing, the highest rating in the Electronic ProductsEnvironmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT). HP reports it now has thelargest number of EPEAT Gold-registered products in the industry.
Already recognized for their advanced performance and tuning, theHP workstations' environmental attributes include low energyconsumption, use of environmentally sensitive materials and areuse- and recycle-friendly design. The current line includes thexw4550, the xw4600, the xw6600, the xw8600, and the xw9400.
HP workstations are used by such power-demanding industries asgraphic arts, broadcast/video post, computer-aided design andmanufacturing (CAD/CAM), engineering, finance, and oil and gasexploration.
All HP workstations are more than 90 percent recyclable by weightand incorporate a tool-less chassis design for quick and easyupgrades by hand. Each workstation includes an 80 PLUS powersupply, which is reportedly up to 15 percent more efficient than astandard power supply, reducing both overall energy usage and theamount of waste heat released into the environment.
As part of its total lifecycle approach to reducing theenvironmental impact of its products, HP has also introduced the HPPersonal Computing Recycling Service to help businesses responsiblydispose of their aging technology. In addition, HP introduced theGreen Expressway, a new set of online resources that provides HPPartners with information specific to HP's energy-efficiencyprograms, the latest environmental news, industry research, andmore.
