BNP Paribas names Bonnafe chief operating officer

PARIS, July 1 (Reuters) - BNP Paribas (BNPP.PA: Quote , Profile , Research ), France's biggest listed bank, on Tuesday announced a managementreshuffle in which Jean-Laurent Bonnafe would become chiefoperating officer and Jean Clamon managing director.
BNP Paribas also reiterated in a statement that its corporate andinvestment banking division was "holding its own" in the currentfinancial market turmoil.
"BNP Paribas has a high potential for growth and many assets forimproving its competitive positions even further, in an environmentthat is creating unprecedented challenges for the bankingprofession," Chief Executive Baudouin Prot said in a statement.(Reporting by Sudip Kar-Gupta; editing by Sue Thomas)
