Albis links with Ampacet in key European markets

Masterbatch portfolio fits snugly alongside Albis polyolefinsoffer.
26 June 2008 – Hamburg-based distributor Albis has taken ondistribution rights for the Ampacet Europe range of masterbatch ina deal initially covering Germany, Austria, Switzerland , Beneluxand Scandinavia, including Finland.
The companies are investigating the extension of the agreement toother countries or regions in the next few months, they say. As aresult of the deal, which takes effect on 1 July, Albis will handlethe full Ampacet range of black, white, additive and colourmasterbatch.
Masterbatch from Ampacet, which has previously been mainly solddirect, will complement the existing Albis own brand product soldunder the Alcolor name. According to Albis technical compoundsdirector Carsten Meyer-Rackwitz, the two portfolios fit togetherwell with Ampacet’s focus on colouring polyolefins andstyrenics, sitting alongside Albis’s focus on engineeringpolymer masterbatch.
Synergies are also seen in the addition of the Ampacet product tothe polyolefins distributed by Albis for LyondellBasell, enablingcustomers to single source polymer and masterbatch.
As a result of the deal announced this morning, Albis isdiscontinuing its relationship with Cabot on black and whitemasterbatch in Germany. “Following our growth strategy weneed partners who are prepared to support our expansion in manycountries in Europe. With our new partner Ampacet we can grow in anumber of key markets in Europe,” Meyer-Rackwitz added.
