Defective brake hose makes Ford recall 650,000 trucks

A recall notice posted by the National Highway Traffic SafetyAdministration has said that Ford Motor is recalling over 650,000of its Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT trucks of 2005 and 2006 modelyears, due to a defect in the brake hose.
Citing the notice, Reuters has reported that the defect may causethe hose to separate from the intake manifold. This would, in turn,make the driver lose control over the assist function that providesadditional power to the brakes.

A Ford spokesman has said that there were reports of 11 minoraccidents due to the defect. Of the 650,000 vehicles to berecalled, about 606,000 will be in the US and the remaining inCanada.
