Female escapee gets wedged in air duct

A WOMAN became wedged in an air-conditioning duct at a policestation while trying to escape custody.
The police rescue squad freed the 22-year-old woman, who wastrapped in the duct at Sydney Police Centre for about an houryesterday afternoon.
She had tried to escape from Corrective Services custody afterbeing taken from Central Local Court to the police centre, policesaid.
Corrective Services said officers became aware of the woman walkingon the roof of the van as it entered the police centre loadingdock.
"The woman climbed from the top of the van into theair-conditioning duct," a spokeswoman said.
"She was being taken from Central Local Court to spend thenight in the Sydney Police Centre."
The woman had been refused bail after appearing at the court oncharges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assaultoccasioning actual bodily harm in company, the spokeswoman said.
The woman has now been charged with escaping lawful custody and isdue to Central Local Court today. Share this article
