EST Introduces New Bearing Protection Ring Kits

Mechanic Falls, Maine-based Electro Static Technology hasintroduced two new AEGIS SGR split-ring bearing protection kits -one for NEMA motors and one for IEC motors. Developed for easyfield installation without disassembly of coupled equipment, thesenew split-ring kits are designed to provide clearance for shaftshoulders, slingers and other end-bell protrusions, whileprotecting bearings from electrical damage caused by circulating orshaft currents.

Kits include the new split-ring version of the SGR bearingprotection ring. The ring prevents bearing damage by safelychanneling shaft currents to ground. Its conductive microfibersprovide the path of least resistance to the motor frame. Kits alsoinclude an aluminum mounting plate and all mounting hardware.

The SGR bearing protection ring extends motor life and preventsbearing noise, downtime and costly motor repairs/replacements,according to the company.

Because the ring comes in halves and the mounting plate is U-shapedto fit around the motor shaft, both can be installed withoutdisconnecting the motor from coupled equipment.
