Waco glass manufacturing plant wins award

Received this e-mail this morning that the Owens-Illinois Inc.glass container manufacturing facility in Waco has been recognizedfor a product it makes in a national packaging design competitioncalled the Clear Choice Awards.
The local plant is being honored for manufacturing the bottles forMiller Chill beer, winner in the beer category of the competition.Here’s the rest of the release:
“In a world with crowded retail shelves, O-I (Owens-Illinois)is dedicated to helping our customers win in the marketplace withinnovative and consumer preferred glass packaging,” saidKevin Stevens, vice president, sales and marketing, North America.“It is an honor to have our product recognized as a ClearChoice winner amongst an increasingly creative and competitiveglass market.”
The Glass Packaging Institute (GPI), the trade associationrepresenting the North American glass container industry, conductsthe annual Clear Choice Awards, which recognizes consumer productgoods companies that package their food, beverage, cosmetic andfragrance products in glass.
“Glass continues to be the preferred packaging material for‘premium,’ ‘pure,’ and‘sustainable’ new products,” said GPI PresidentJoseph Cattaneo. “We congratulate the employees of the localO-I facility for their contributions in bringing this product tothe marketplace. Their hard work reflects the glass containermanufacturing industry’s commitment to product innovation,sustainability, and quality manufacturing.”
The Waco plant is one of 10 manufacturing facilities in NorthAmerica that will be recognized by the Glass Packaging Institute.
