Pilot Chemical acquires part of Intertrade business
[2008-4-10]
Fine chemicals player Pilot Chemicals says it has acquired part of the Intertrade Holdings business in a move that will increase its offerings to the personal care industry.
Based in Tennessee, Intertrade is focused in the manufacturing of sulfonated products and is selling on seven sulfonated products targeted at a wide variety of applications.
Pilot has established its name as one of the leading suppliers of sulfonated products in North America, so the transaction should help it further build on the position.
Emulsifiers and surfactants
The products have a variety of applications including emulsifiers, surfactants and other specialised functions.
The ingredients include Sulfonate AA 10, which can be used as an antifungicidal agent in the production of wraps for soaps; Sulfonic 800, which can be used as an intermediate in the production of surfactants; and SADPO, which is used as a compound in cleaning formulations.
Deal includes seven sulfonated products
The other four products in the transaction will include Sulfonate OA-5R, Sulfonate OE-500, PTSA and PTSA 65 per cent.
Ohio-based Pilot says the transaction will help it to offer a more complete line of surfactant products to the marketplace, where it also supplies the household, industrial agent, lubricant and textiles industries.
All the new ingredients can be purchased in both bulk and packaged quantities.
