New detergent factory inaugurated in northern port city

Detergent maker VICO Company Ltd today officially inaugurated and put into operation a detergent factory in the northern port city of Haiphong, after ten months of construction.
The VILACO Detergent Factory has a capacity of 50,000 tonnes a year. Total investment is put at VND 50 billion.
According to VILACO Director Nguyen Mong Lan, the factory is designed by VICO and equipped with modern production technology. Up to 80% of the production line is automated, ensuring clean production and minimising waste.
By putting the factory into operation, the second investment phase has been completed. VICO will continue to invest in the third phase, which after being completed, will help raise the factory’s liquid detergent production capacity from 7,200 tonnes to 15,000 tonnes a year and cosmetics production capacity from 1,000 to 3,000 tonnes a year.
Both VICO and VILACO expects to produce 80,000 tonnes of products this year, including 60,000 tonnes of washing powder, doubling the 2007’s figure.
Haiphong has defined the chemicals production industry as a key industry and set a target that the sector’s annual growth must be higher than the city’s average industrial growth.
