EMERYVILLE, Calif.--( BUSINESS WIRE )--NovaBay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AMEX: NBY & TSX: NBY, http://www.novabaypharma.com ), a clinical stage company developing non-antibioticanti-infective compounds for the treatment or prevention of a widerange of bacterial, viral, and fungal infections, will deliver fourposter presentations and an oral summary during the first-everjoint meeting of the American Society for Microbiology and theInfectious Diseases Society of America (48th Annual ICAAC/IDSA 46thAnnual Meeting) in Washington, D.C.
The four poster presentations, describing new results from thecompany's antibacterial program, will be given on Tuesday, October28, between 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM. The first explains the chemistry and basic biology ofNovaBay ’ s lead compound, NVC-422, a broad-spectrum antibacterial belongingto a class of naturally occurring antibacterial compounds. Thesecond describes the biological activity of NVC-422 in greaterdetail. The third examines more closely the use of NVC-422 againstbiofilms – troublesome “ communities ” of microorganisms that adhere to a living or inert surface, forexample a catheter or medical implant. The final poster describesresearch that indicates that NVC-422 is highly unlikely to engenderresistance. By invitation, NovaBay will be providing an oralsummary of these posters during the Poster Summary Session on NovelAntimicrobial Agents and Strategies on Saturday, October 25 between10 AM and 12 noon.
