A narcotics investigation and a traffic stop of a pickup led agentsto chemicals used to make methamphetamine, said Harrison CountySheriff Melvin Brisolara.

Brian Owen Love, 44, of Stonehurst Drive in Moss Point, was underinvestigation when narcotics agents stopped his eastbound truckTuesday afternoon on Interstate 10 near D'Iberville. They pulledhis truck over near the 46 mile-marker and searched the vehicle.

Items found inside the truck led to Love's arrest on a charge ofpossession of two or more chemical precursors with intent tomanufacture meth, Brisolara said.
Love was held at the Harrison County jail under a $75,000 bond setby Justice Court Judge Gene Dedeaux.

The state's list of meth precursors includes 29 ingredients. Havingtwo or more ingredients can be considered intent to make meth.
A conviction is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fineranging from $5,000 to $1 million.

A recent amendment to the precursor law added to the listingredients such as ammonium nitrate, sodium hydroxide and hydrogenperoxide. The sheriff didn't specify what items were seized fromLove's pickup.

The lead investigator is Lt. Troy Peterson of the sheriff'snarcotics unit.
