DES PLAINES, Ill., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- UOP LLC, aHoneywell company, announced today that the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company,also known as Takreer, has selected UOP to supply technology andengineering services for an expansion at its Ruwais Refinery in theUnited Arab Emirates.
The refinery will produce propylene, unleaded gasoline, naphtha,liquefied petroleum gas(LPG), aviation turbine fuel, kerosene,gas-oil, bunker fuel and other hydrocarbon derivatives. Basicengineering design is currently in progress. The refinery isexpected to be complete in 2014.
"This facility will help us to meet the growing demand forclean fuels and chemicals in the Middle East and around theworld," said Jasem Al Sayegh from Takreer. "UOP'shydroprocessing solutions are an integral part of thiseffort."
The new facility will utilize a wide range of UOP technologies forthe production of clean, low sulfur distillate and gasoline. TheUOP Unicracking(TM) process in conjunction with the UOP DistillateUnionfining(TM) process will upgrade heavy feedstocks to produceultra-low-sulfur diesel. The UOP Merox(TM) process will removesulfur from saturated LPG streams, and the UOP BenSat(TM) processwill manage the benzene content in the gasoline pool. The refineryalso includes a hydrotreating unit that will use the UOP NaphthaHydrotreating process and Distillate Unionfining unit to producelow-sulfur kerosene. The unit is the largest kerosene-fedhydrotreating unit ever licensed by UOP.
