DENSO to Build New Test Facility for Diesel Common Rail Systems in ...

KARIYA,Japan, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- DENSO Corporation announcedtoday that it will build a new test facility at its Zenmyo Plantlocated in Nishio, Aichi,Japan for testing common rail systems-fuelinjection systems for diesel vehicles. With a total investment ofapproximately 8 billion yen (approximately US$77.2 million *), construction is scheduled to start in May 2009 and be completedin March 2010. The new facility is set to begin operations in April2010.
Currently, all tests and evaluations of common rail systems thatneed to be performed inJapan are conducted at DENSO headquarters inKariya, Aichi, Japan. DENSO will continue common rail design anddevelopment testing at its headquarters, but will be able toconduct performance evaluations and durability tests at the newtesting facility at the Zenmyo Plant, which produces common railsystems. This approach will help DENSO speed up productdevelopment.
"The construction of a new test facility will help DENSO improvedevelopment efficiency and strengthen R&D systems for commonrail systems to comply with increasingly strict exhaust emissionand fuel consumption regulations, and to apply to different typesof fuels, such as biofuels," said Masahiko Miyaki , managing officer responsible of DENSO Corporation's PowertrainControl Systems Business Group.
