Kuraray to Set Up Second Singapore Plant, Business Times Says

July 2 (Bloomberg) -- Kuraray Co. , a Japanese synthetic fiber maker, plans to invest in a secondresin factory in Singapore in the next year, the Business Timesreported, citing President Yasuaki Wakui .
The new plant will produce 15,000 tons a year of polyvinyl butyralresin, which is used for printing ink and in ceramics, thenewspaper said. Company officials declined to disclose the size ofthe investment.
The company may also study the possibility of setting up a factoryin the city-state to make specialty films for solar energy panels,the report said. Kuraray's existing plant in Singapore produces40,000 tons a year of polyvinyl alcohol resin, which it uses tomake film for vehicle windshields and liquid crystal displays.
