Dow Silicone Sealant Excels in Protective Glazing Applications

[2008-5-16]

Tag: Glass Sealant

Midland, MI - Dow Corning 995 Structural Silicone Sealant is a one-part, neutral-cure adhesive that cures to durable elastomeric rubber. It combines high tensile adhesion strength (150 psi) with superior tear strength (49 psi) and offers excellent, unprimed adhesion to most common building substrates, such as glass, reflective glass, anodized aluminum, granite and paints, including most fluoropolymer-based paints.

"Dow Corning 995 sealant is particularly well-formulated for structural glazing applications and new impact-resistant protective glazing systems," said Mike Blaszkowski, Dow Corning Construction Market Manager.

For example, it is used to protect the 2,559 windows of the CNA Financial Plaza Building in Chicago from the harsh impacts created from sudden atmospheric windloads.

Dow Corning 995 sealant is the only approved sealant for the 3M Ultraflex System, it satisfies the demanding impact/hurricane structural glazing standards required for new construction in Dade County, Florida, and it meets bomb blast requirements for new structural glazing systems.
