BASF To Raise Prices on Latex Products

BASF (Charlotte, NC) has announced price increases for several rawmaterials used in sealants, architectural coatings, and other latexproducts for the construction, paper, and related markets.
The price increases take effect July 1, 2008, or as contractsallow, the company says. BASF will increase its prices by $US 0.12per dry pound in the U.S. and Canada for all Butofan® mediumsolids styrene-butadiene latex products and for Styrofan® andStyronal® styrene-butadiene latex products.
The company is taking this action because of significant priceincreases in raw materials, in particular, styrene and butadiene,coupled with freight-related fuel surcharges and manufacturingenergy requirements.
