Church & Dwight has announced plans to construct a newintegrated laundry detergent manufacturing plant and distributioncenter in York County, Pennsylvania.
Construction will begin in September 2008 and the site is scheduledto be operational by the end of 2009. In conjunction with theopening of the new facility, the company will close its existinglaundry detergent manufacturing plant and distribution buildings inNorth Brunswick, New Jersey.
The company expects to invest approximately $170 million in capitalexpenditures and transition expenses relating to the opening of theYork County site and the closing of the North Brunswick complex.
James Craigie, chairman and CEO of Church & Dwight, said: "Thisnew site will allow us to continue to grow our fabric care businessin a facility that can handle the current and anticipatedadditional base volume growth for our core businesses, supportfuture potential acquisitions and position our business to be amongthe industry leaders in low-cost production and distribution in thefuture."
