New paint introduced in country

A new and fire-resistant paint has been introduced to SolomonIslands.

The product was jointly launched in Honiara yesterday by anAustralian company, Pacific Islands International and its localagent, Bowmans Hardware company.

Managing Director of Pacific Islands International, Mick Finn saidthat unlike other paints, the anti flame paint guaranteesprotection against risks and dangers fire poses to life and homes.

He says coating house walls and ceilings with the anti flame paint,reduces the chances of flames spreading quickly through thebuilding.

Mr Finn says it had proven that with such resistance to flamesspreading so quickly, occupants stand an escape time frame of up to40 minutes.

He says this is enough time to escape or remove any valuables fromtheir homes.

He says the new paint is becoming popular both in Australia and NewZealand and is finding its way into the U-S market.

The paint, which is both environmentally friendly and non toxic isnow available in the local market through its Honiara agent,Bowmans Hardware company.
