SKF bearings resist temperatures up to 350 deg C

There are two series of the Y-bearing units available.
1 - The VA201 range for applications where operating temperaturesare between -40 deg C and +250 deg C.
2 - The VA228 series for operating temperatures of between -150 degC and +350 deg C.
The Y-bearings are supplied inside the housing units which featurea spherical outer diameter, which corresponds exactly to theconcave seating face inside the unit.
This arrangement enables alignment errors of up to +/-5 deg to becompensated, reducing installation time and optimising equipmentperformance.
The bearings operate at shaft speeds of up to 100 rev/min andfeature highly efficient seals designed to protect the bearings andprevent the leakage of lubricants .
* Coronet cage - the VA228 bearings feature a specially developedcoronet cage, constructed from graphite based material.
It effectively acts as the lubricant for extended periods of operation, eliminating the need forconventional greases .
SKF said that this makes the bearings an environmentally friendlyoption, as no harmful fumes or gases are produced even at extremetemperatures.
The VA201 series bearings, for comparatively less demandingapplications, have a conventional pressed steel cage.
The cage is filled with a high temperature lubricating paste madefrom a mixture of polyalkylene glycol and graphite to offerexcellent lubricating properties.
The Y-bearing units are coated with zinc and yellow chromate foradded protection against corrosion.
Each housing bore is coated with lubricating paste and designed sothat the effects of shaft or housing misalignment can easily beeliminated regardless of temperature variations.
The units can also be specified with bore diameters of between 30mmand 60mm and can be supplied as a plummer block assembly or withsquare or oval flanges, making them an extremely versatile unit.
