Record number of US companies to exhibit at Glee

Glee will welcome a record number of US exhibitors when it opens atthe Birmingham NEC in September, with US companies are to occupy800 sq m at the show. Glee said increasing numbers of USmanufacturers were looking to expand into European gardeningmarkets to counter the effect of the weakening dollar.

White Hound Advertising president and Glees agent for NorthAmerica Adam Ash said: The weak dollar and the strength of theBritish gardening and pet sectors has led to a surge of NorthAmerican participation in the show. As companies look to find newand growing markets for their products, they are increasinglylooking to the UK as a natural launch pad for their operations into Europe .

The strength of the pound means that North American products areincredibly attractive to UK retailers, and the strength of Glee means that we can deliver anaudience that is receptive to new ideas and hungry for new productsfrom around the world.

Among the US companies exhibiting at Glee are greetings carddesigner Avanti Press, garden tool manufacturer Barnel and DeerPark Ironworks, which creates decorative garden accessories and hasnever before traded outside the US market. Among those exhibitingat Glee Petindex are RJ Leigh Pet Products, which produces kennels,cages and aquariums and is approved by the American Kennel Club andFURminator, creators of the patented fur-shedding tool.

Outdoor living companies crossing the Atlantic this September willinclude Outdoor Accents, a UK distributor of decorative garden products representing US clientssuch as Home Bazaar, Music of the Spheres and Open Air Designs andQDG Designs, which creates powder-coated wrought iron gardenfurniture in 16 colours.

Glee will take place between September 21 and September 23 at theNEC in Birmingham .
