BASF raises prices for acetylene-based intermediates and carbonates

LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany (Thomson Financial) - BASF SE. said it is lifting the prices for acetylene-based specialtyintermediates and carbonates globally and with immediate effect by10 percent, responding to a rise in raw material costs.
The chemicals, which include acetylene alcohols, vinyl monomers andcarbonates, are used in the production of drugs, pesticides,cosmetics, coatings and printing inks, the German company said in astatement.
