Karylle gets help from Pinoy Dream Academy Teacher

Divine Diva daughter Karylle may be hosting a singing reality showfrom the other network, but she's getting the services of aPinoyDreamAcademy teacher to help her be at her best in singing.

Karylle will star with Christian Bautista in Stages' upcomingmusical West Side Story this September. Executive producer to theshow Audie Gemora revealed that it took them quite a long time tocomplete their cast but Karylle was a perfect fit for the role ofMaria.

Karylle first starred as Sapphire during Trumpets' staging of TheLittle Mermaid, a couple of years ago, and having her back on stagefor West Side Story, may need a lot of re-work and polishing withher voice and accent, especially that she's portraying a PuertoRican in the play.

In this light, Karylle did a couple of sacrifices. She confessedthat she turned down a teleserye for this musical.

"Well, for one thing, I already said yes to this. It's a once in alifetime opportunity. With the people behind the teleserye, I toldthem na I said yes, I gave my word and I'm committed to this. Inthe beginning, we tried to see kung mag-fi-fit ba? Hindi e. Sanathey will still consider me for another teleserye. Kasi ngaaraw-araw siya, singing and rehearsing. At yung 12-4pm na rehearsalnakakapagod siya, nakakagutom. Coz you need a lot of energy."

We asked Karylle which teleserye is this, but she begged off tospill the beans.

She then told ABS-CBN.com that her voice coach right now for thisproject is Teacher Kitchie Molina, resident voice coach ofABS-CBN's PinoyDreamAcademy. Odd to hear knowing that Karylle ishosting the show which is the direct rival program of PDA, but sheshared the importance of having Teacher Kitchie as her coach.

"She lives so very far from me that's one thing, so I have travel along way to see her. And I know she's very, very busy. She makestime for me and I make time for her. And you should never stoplearning. But for this (West Side Story), it's nice to train for aspecific project kasi para mas concentrated. Sometimes I work withher on specific projects like on the one with Jose Mari Chan, kasinagba-backup din siya dun. It's always nice to feel studentsomehow.

Audie Gemora also revealed that there will be a love scene andseveral kissing scenes in the show. So how is Karylle taking this?"We were looking at the score sheets kanina, saan yung kiss? Taposmeron pa lang love scene. Tapos may ballet daw. I don't even knowhow's it gonna be and I'm actually afraid to ask. I doubt it naman(that there'll be sexy love scenes), coz there'll be childrenwatching. (And with the several kisses) and it's in the dialogue.Like it says there sing, then kiss. Then sing, then kiss. Well,we'll cross the bridge when we get there."

West Side Story starring Christian Bautista and Karylle will runfrom September to October at the Meralco Theater.
