Swiss air force head resigns over deadly boating accident

Two inflatable rafts overturned June 12 on the raging Kander riverin central Switzerland. One airman is still missing. Another fiveairmen were injured, two of them seriously.
They were taking part in a "team-building" exercise by a unitassigned to securing air transport.
The Swiss Defense Department issued a statement Friday saying theAir Force commandant, Walter Knutti, a three-star general, willstep down immediately because of irregularities in the promotion ofthe commander who organized the exercise.
