The three-day summer programmes in Edinburgh and Richmond willbring together industry and academic leaders and facilitatediscussion on issues such as solid-bound reagents and scavengers inmicrowave synthesis, microwave-accelerated metal-catalysedtransformations, improved efficiency integrating synthesis andpurification, and flow synthesis.
Throughout the programmes, leading figures from academicinstitutions and commercial organizations includingGlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Merck, Abbott, Edinburgh University,Biotage, The Scripps Research Institute and the University ofCalifornia will present a series of lectures on solid-supportedreagents and scavengers in microwave synthesis, catalyst removaland reaction work-up solutions.
Presentations will include 'Combining Solid Phase and MicrowaveChemistry' by Professor Mark Bradley of the University ofEdinburgh, and 'Enhanced Chemical Synthesis Using Flow Reactors' byDr Paul Watts of the University of Hull.
Interactive workshops will focus on streamlining workflows withmicrowave and flash purification systems, scavengers, reagents andreaction work-up products.
In addition to a wide range of lectures and practical workshops, delegates are encouraged to take part in poster sessions.
Posters describing a range of organic synthesis applications willbe on display throughout the programme, encouraging knowledgesharing and interaction.
The seminars are scheduled at the University of Richmond, USA from21-23 July, 2008 and at the University of Edinburgh, UK, from 29-31July, 2008.
