IDI Composites Supplies High Performance Thermosets for AlliedMoulded Electrical Casings May 22, 2008

NOBLESVILLE, INDIANA (USA) - IDI Composites International, thepremier global formulator and manufacturer of thermoset moldingcompounds, announces that its Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) and SheetMolding Compound (SMC) have been selected by Allied MouldedProducts, Inc. to be used in the company's NEMA-grade electricaland electronic equipment enclosures. These enclosures mustwithstand highly corrosive environments, such as chemical andwastewater treatment plants, as well as the impact of harsh weatherconditions when housed outdoors, such as on golf courses andsporting fields. The enclosures must also demonstrate superiorstructural rigidity and strength, as well as good electricalinsulation properties.

IDI's SMC and BMC are much less expensive than traditionalenclosure materials, such as stainless steel, making them an idealreplacement for metals. Furthermore, thermoset components are up to35% lighter than steel parts of equal strength, helping to reducecosts associated with transportation.

The composite materials also offer many other benefits for Allied'soutdoor products, including ballistic resistance, for protectionagainst damage from rocks or sports equipment; UV-resistance; andmolded-in color, allowing the enclosures to easily blend into theirenvironment.
