As fashion fads go, you could do far worse than the bow tie.
It's dapper, sophisticated, distinctive and -- above all -- it'smaking a comeback.
"They've never been out of style!" asserts Dr. John Iacobucci, who's been tying a bow around his neck for at least 20 years.
The prominent Grand Rapids plastic surgeon doesn't wear theidiosyncratic adornment because he's fussy or old-fashioned, butbecause it's the epitome of class.
"Bow ties are elegant," he said. "I've always thought they wereelegant."
More men are wearing the timeless classic, according to trendreports.
Even as the Wall Street Journal recently reported on decliningsales of neckties -- victims of "business casual" workplaces --retailers are seeing a slow build on the bow tie trend.
The New York Times earlier this year said eBay sales of bow tiesjumped 34 percent from December to February.
"We've been selling them for 20 years, most recently to a differentclient," said Jim Murray, store manager of upscale men's clothierA.K. Rikk's, 5761 28th St. "There are younger guys coming in (forthem)."
As bow ties are spotted in more modern and hip formats -- such asmusic videos, on the runway and in men's magazines -- younger menare taking notice, Murray said.
