New paint products come to your life

Painting a room in your home can be a real chore. But some new paints claim to make the work easier and faster. 3 On Your Side's Jim Donovan gives you a primer on these new products.
You don't have to be a professional painter to get professional results these days. Painting is a great, easy way to make over any room of your house.
So the Good Housekeeping Research Institute looked at some new formulas of paint to see which ones were worth using.
The Michelangelo Faux Finish lets novice painters create textured walls with a single coat.
"First you have to prime your walls and let that dry overnight," said Stacey Genovese with the Institute. "Then you apply the paint, wait about a minute, and its color-changing technology will actually change colors with pressure and movements," she added. It retails for $45.
If you prefer wall patterns, try the Bella and Birch designer wall finish.
"This is a great product because you can do pieces of your room one at a time and not worry about wet paint and clean-up in between," Genovese said. It retails for $77 for a 12' by 12' room, but a designer kit will cost you $50.
And Benjamin Moore's Aura Paint lets you skip the priming step when going from a dark color to a light one.
"We started with a wall painted with navy blue Aura paint then put a coat of white Aura over it with no primer," said Genovese.
With the first coat, there was some navy still coming through.
"We put a second coat of Aura white paint on top of the navy and there was no navy coming through at all and this was done with no primer. The Benjamin Moore Aura paint retails for $55.
