Additive concentrate facilitates laser marking
US company Polyvel, Inc. has developed additive concentrates forlaser marking for use in PE and PP, TPU, PC, PET, PBT and PVCapplications. When these concentrates are let down into a polymer,through extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding or rotationalmoulding, the company says that the plastic part can be lasermarked using the fast YAG laser technologies until now onlysuitable for markings on metal products. Examples of applicationsfor laser markings on plastics are electrical components andinsulation, bottle caps, labels and packaging.

Hammonton, New Jersey-based Polyvel primarily focuses on liquid,low melting point, highly volatile, and heat sensitive polymeradditives. The additive concentrate product lines include:antifogs, antistats, fragrances, slip additives, wetting agents,processing aids. mould releases, lubricants, peroxides andspeciality additives.
