Atacama acquires major new potash project in Brazil

Ghignone and Assis also state, "The identification of the mineralspecies present in the evaporitic interval where thicknesses are inexcess of one meter can be easily identified using the loggingresults of density and gamma radiation:"

Edward Posey, President of Atacama, stated, "The successfuldevelopment of the Salvador Potash Project will form an importantpart of the Company's strategic growth plan for becoming a majorsupplier of fertilizers for the growing world market. Atacama iscurrently planning a $61 million specialty nitrate fertilizer plantat the Aguas Blancas operation in northern Chile, and potash formsa major component of the specialty potassium and sodium-potassiumnitrate fertilizers we intend to produce. The excellentinfrastructure surrounding the Salvador Potash Project, includingproximity to the major port city of Salvador, along with a longlocal history of solution mining, will help insure the rapidacceleration of project development if economic deposits can beconfirmed."

The acquisition is subject to receipt by the Company of requisiteregulatory approval, including the approval of the TSX VentureExchange.
