Alcoa Chairman Alain Belda Elected to IBM Board of Directors

Alain Belda is chairman of Alcoa. Mr. Belda has a long,distinguished career at Alcoa joining the company nearly 40 yearsago in its Brazilian affiliate, Alcoa Aluminio. He was elected avice president of Alcoa in 1982, executive vice president in 1994,vice chairman in 1995, and president and chief operating officerwith responsibility for all of Alcoa's operating activities in1997. Two years later, he was elected president and chief executiveofficer and became chairman and chief executive officer of Alcoa in2001, and named to his current position earlier this year
In addition to being chairman of Alcoa's board of directors, Mr.Belda is a director of Citigroup Inc. He serves on the Board ofTrustees of The Conference Board, the world's leading businessmembership and research organization, and is also an active memberof the Business Council.
