Bath Are Fighting Fit For Tigers

[2008-4-15]

With only Ryan Davis and Andy Beattie now out with long-term injuries, forwards coach Mark Bakewell says the subsequent competition for places is a key factor behind the winning momentum."Having more players available is a blessing, particularly in key positions such as the front row where players have to endure a lot of fatigue," said Bakewell.

"The Leicester match will be the first since I have been at the club where we have had Barnes, Flatman, Bell and Stevens all available for selection.

"The last time we played Leicester it was in the EDF competition and effectively both sides did not field their strongest sides.

South African James has been sidelined since dislocating his shoulder against Saracens in January but is now fit to lead Bath in their efforts to reach the playoffs.

Bath are currently third in the Premiership, while Leicester are two places - and as many points - behind with four games of the regulation season remaining.

The showdown between these old rivals is a must-win for both teams, and the side that loses will likely have to win their remaining three matches to stand any chance of making the final four.
