If you're unfamiliar with some of these high-end designer boutiquescoming to Ross Park Mall, here's a primer. (Items by Burberry, KateSpade, Michael Kors, Juicy Couture and True Religion Brand Jeansalso will be sold at the new Nordstrom store in the mall.)


Juicy Couture
Founded by two California women in 1998, the company began asTravis Jeans and specialized in maternity wear. After evolving intoJuicy Couture, it drew a cult following with expensive T-shirts andlater expanded into menswear, childrenswear, wristwatches andfragrances. The brand is most famous for its comfy women's tracksuits, which generated controversy for the word "juicy" emblazonedacross the derriere. Items from the line are currently sold locallyat Choices, Charles Spiegel, Original Cin, Muse Kids Couture, SaksFifth Avenue and Pittsburgh Jeans Company.
BCBG Max Azria
A favorite of female celebrities for its lovely dresses, the brandtraces its origins to Paris in 1981. It combines Europeansophistication and American spirit for a young, modern look thatcarries over to its lines of denim, outerwear, swimwear, footwearand handbags. There's already a BCBG store at SouthSide Works.
Burberry
This British company, known for its distinctive brown check,resides in the upper echelons of luxury fashion. Founded 152 yearsago by draper's apprentice Thomas Burberry, the brand's firstspecialty was outerwear, which led to the invention of theforerunner of the trench coat. With creative director ChristopherBailey at the helm, the company has ventured in recent years beyondits traditional, conservative aesthetic to reach a younger, hipperconsumer.
Janie and Jack
The California-based company, owned by Gymboree, offers higher-endclothing and accessories for preemies and boys and girls throughsize 6 (up to size 8 online). There's currently a store at TheGalleria in Mt. Lebanon.
Kate Spade
Fifteen years ago, the Kansas City, Mo., native became famous forchic handbags in vibrant colors and exotic materials and went on towin numerous awards. In recent years, she has moved into footwearand other accessories, baby items and a home collection thatincludes dishes and stationery. Products are currently sold locallyat Macy's and e.b. Pepper.
Louis Vuitton
The French brand is one of the most recognized and revered names infashion today. It began with saddles, moved into luggage and inrecent years has been a trendsetter in handbags, other accessories,and men's and women's apparel. There's a small in-store boutique inSaks Fifth Avenue.
Lucky Brand Jeans
Youthful, vintage-inspired sportswear is what this LosAngeles-based brand is all about. With its roots in rock-'n'-roll,the brand specializes in jeans of various washes and fits. Alsoavailable are hoodies, bold-print Western shirts and tees for men,and cargos, shorts, skirts and tops for women. Products arecurrently sold locally at Cajoli, Pittsburgh Jeans Company, TheBuckle and Macy's.
Michael Kors
He has emerged in recent years as one of the most-watched menswearand womenswear designers because of his sleek sophistication. Hisregular appearance as a judge on award-winning reality show"Project Runway" has dramatically increased the company'svisibility, as well as a lower-priced line -- MICHAEL Michael Kors-- available locally at chickdowntown.com and Macy's.
Tiffany & Co.
The crown jewel of American jewelry houses, Tiffany's paleblue-turquoise gift box is instantly recognized as a sign ofquality. The New York-based company, established in 1837, createsnot only necklaces, rings and other elegantly bejeweled baubles,but also trophies for the Major League Baseball World Series, theNBA, the NFL and the U.S. Open Tennis Championship.
True Religion Brand Jeans
Established in 2002, this California-based company quickly becameone of America's most popular cult brands of premium denim. Itmanufactures numerous categories of apparel for men, women andchildren. It's currently available locally at Urban Outfitters andPittsburgh Jeans Company.
