I am 18 and cannot find pyjama trousers that fit my rather long34in legs. I live in a house on windy Hartley Moor inNorthumberland, and like to curl up on the sofa in the eveningswith my five cats. I would appreciate it if you could help me tofind some styles that are comfortable and, crucially, warm.
First, let me recommend some cashmere socks to bridge the gapbetween pyjama trousers and and your chilly feet. Cashmere socksare a great comfort and The White Company ( www.thewhitecompany.com ) always has a selection, even now, at £25 a time. The WhiteCompany also has a range of clothes called Stretch and Relax thathave very comfortable trousers and tops, ranging through from camisto a jersey zipped hoody.
Prices start at £20 for the trousers, while the hoodie is£35. All come in glacier (a sort of pale blue), smoke(mushroom, to you and me), black and white.
In the winter catalogues (out in August), there will be cashmerevariations but, in the meantime, some of The White Company's shopsstill have some of its lovely grey marl knitted trousers andhoodies in a combination of cotton and cashmere (£60 and£55).
David Downton has drawn for us yet another option from The WhiteCompany - some wide-leg linen trousers (£60), a softlong-sleeved T-shirt for extra warmth (£20) and a very easydraped cardigan (£60). If you buy the largest size, theinside leg is 33in long - a mere half an inch off.
Next up is the Volga Linen company ( www.volgalinen.co.uk ) which has some lovely informal wear for summer with a series ofcontrasting shawls for keeping out the draughts.
One of my most travelled friends always changes into in VolgaLinen's linen pyjamas on long-haul flights and very elegant shelooks. It has jellebahs, short (£75) and long (reduced to£40), in a divine shade of blue (which it calls woad), whiteand black. It has wide-legged easy trousers in white, teal andblack (£65) and gorgeous shawls in red, olive and teal(£88).
And, finally, here are some good websites worth trawling:
www.idlewildlondon.com Great grey skinny trousers and tops
www.carmalondon.com Good hoodies and easy trousers
www.pyjamaroom.com I thought you might like the roll-top palazzo trousers(£65), a fitted cami (£35) and a long wrap-top(£65).
Since this is my last Ask Lucia column I'd like to say what apleasure it has been and what a happy time I've had communicatingwith so many Times readers of every shape, size and disposition. Ishall miss you all.
