Mesa couple arrested for child abuse

" Where were all of these laws when I was growing up (in the60's). I was beaten regularly by my father just as a matter ofcause, ('Cause he was sure that I must have done something bad). IfI had been suspended from school, I wouldn't have even consideredgoing home. I guess my question is, have we gone to far in theopposite direction. Shouldn't a child be punished for beingexpelled from school? Isn't it the parents who decide what thepunishment should be? Maybe all children should be in aninstitution until they are adults so that the parents no longerhave to decide which punishment is correct or more importantlylegal. I am sure all of this leniency will come back to haunt uslater, say in 25 years. "
