Parliament House and Telstra Tower were obscured for most of themorning as fog settled over Canberra yesterday.
A combination of moisture, overnight temperatures in the minusesand low winds created a typical white winter morn.
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesman said we can expect similarconditions today.
''Fog is just clouds touching the ground. The air around Canberrawas saturated with water and water vapour in the air turned intofine water droplets we call fog,'' he said.
The top temperature yesterday was 2.3 degrees above the Julyaverage of 11.3 degrees.
After four months of below average rainfall, the long-term outlookmay be looking up.
The ACT is well on the way to July's average rainfall of 41.3mmhalfway through the month, with 21mm already recorded.
An Actew spokeswoman said our water consumption has been good.''Last week we averaged 97 megalitres, which is exactly the target,and this week we are around the target,'' she said.
The bureau predicts more snow above 1400m over the next few days.
Ski resorts are preparing for a white and windy weekend.
Today Canberrans can expect a cool foggy morning and a fineafternoon, with some rain predicted for the evening.
