Via Hack a Day, here's an interesting use of an accelerometer and aWhiffle bat to produce motion-style controls on the Commodore 64.
The hack began with adapting a Nintendo Entertainment Systemcontroller for use with the classic personal computer, buteventually they stuck an accelerometer on top of a baseball bat,and once the thing reaches a certain speed, it presses the"fire" button on the C64's joystick.
Perfect for playing Street Sports Baseball and, uh, nothing else.
