Modern marriage? "We pull our weight and value our independence. I often go ongirly nights and he goes on trips with the boys. We don't even havea joint bank account," says Alison.
Stuck in the 30s? "I do the shopping and cleaning as I work from home. And I alwayshave Iain's dinner on the table when he gets in. But if we have aBBQ, he suddenly thinks women can't cook!" says Alison.
Alison's verdict: Thank God - Iain joked if I came out poor he'd divorce me! Bytoday's standards I think I am a good housewife - I do all thehorrible mundane things like cleaning and cooking.
But I wouldn't like to be too modern or traditional. It's great tobe married but still have independence. I even took the words "toobey" out of our vows.
Now, people choose to be with each other, they don't need to betogether. Life would be boring if I couldn't flirt or tell him offfor driving like a nutter!
Iain's verdict: She's scored highly in all the right places!
But she's not very 30s, she's a free spirit, a social characterwho's flirty and full of fun. That's why I love her.
I don't expect her to have my dinner on the table, but she does,and I'm very grateful for it.
Our relationship is open, passionate and honest - I wouldn't likeit if she had to bottle things up. Equality means women can fulfilpersonal ambitions and focus on family. Our marriage is all aboutachieving our ambitions together.
