Crete-Monee and Mt. Carmel's boys golf teams both won regionals onTuesday.

The Warriors' Joe Rossi was the medalist with a 72 as he helpedlead Crete-Monee to the team title at the Class 2A Tinley ParkRegional. The Warriors (338 strokes) edged Illiana Christian (344),but both teams qualified for Monday's Nazareth Academy Sectional atThe Links of Carillon Plainfield.

Illiana's top golfer was Zach VerHaar (80).

The Caravan, led by medalist Bobby Sloan's 74, won the Class 3A St.Ignatius Regional at Cog Hill No. 2. They advance to Monday'sHomewood-Flossmoor Sectional at Balmoral Woods.

David Objatek shot a 79 for Mt. Carmel, followed by Peter Vrdolyak(82) and Ryne Markvart (90).

Class 1A Bishop McNamara Regional: Beecher's Brett Donaghue qualified for Monday's Byron Sectional ashe shot an 84.

The top eight individuals not on qualifying teams advance to thesectional. Beecher finished seventh as a team with 364 strokes.



Girls Volleyball

Bloom Twp. 25-25, Kankakee 14-7: The Blazing Trojans (19-4, 6-0) remained atop the SICA South witha win over the Kays.

Becca Dill had 15 assists and three aces for Bloom Twp., while ValDesidero had six kills.

T.F. North 25-25, Thornwood 23-18: Bayeena Abdul-Rahim's four kills and two aces led the Meteors(8-13, 2-3) past the Thunderbirds in the SICA East.

Nafi Abdulai had five kills, while Christina Jackson added four.

Beecher 23-25-25, Gardner-South Wilmington 25-11-18: Alex Morgan had 10 kills and Jen Hermanson totaled three kills, 25assists and seven digs as the Bobcats won in three games.

Kaylee Houlihan (eight kills) and Carissa Boekeloo (seven kills)also had big nights for Beecher.

Illinois Lutheran 28-25, Grant Park 26-16: Amy Most (seven kills) and Alex Hackel (four kills) led theChargers (12-5, 5-2) to the River Valley Conference win.



Boys Soccer

Bloom Twp. 8, Kankakee 0: Andres Almeida's hat trick kept the Blazing Trojans (14-3, 8-0)undefeated in the SICA.

Alonso Flores and Ayuba Adenayi had two goals each.

Crete-Monee 6, Rich Central 2: Carlos Posada's hat trick and Joe Rossi's two goals led theWarriors (7-7, 6-4) to the SICA win.

Girls Swimming

Plainfield Twp. 51, Thornton Fractional 42: Amanda Maricich won the 50 freestyle (25.72) and 100 freestyle(56.12), but Thornton Fractional fell to Plainfield Twp.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Amanda Maricich, StephanieCzarobski, Erica Maricich and Kim Klein won in 1:51.10.

Crete-Monee football players will spat their shoes in pink tapeprior to the start of Friday night's game against Rich East andplans to have a pink ribbon painted on the field are also in theworks. The moves are being made to recognize October as BreastCancer Awareness Month.
