Tours will examine Corydon's dark past

The Friends of Corydon Capitol will offer "Corydon's Unsavory Past"walking tours Friday and Saturday.
Guided tours will depart at 7:30 p.m. from the Hurley D. ConradMemorial Bandstand on the grounds of the Corydon Capitol, 126 E.Walnut St. The last tour will depart at 9 p.m.
The fundraising event benefits the Friends of Corydon Capitol,which supports the preservation and programming of the statehistoric site. Volunteers will help stage re-creations of eventscovering Corydon's nearly 200-year history.
Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance at the WrightInterpretive Center in downtown Corydon during business hours or bycalling 738-4890. New Albany service to honor the military
A New Albany recognition ceremony for military personnel will beheld from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Riverfront Amphitheater,where Pearl Street meets the Ohio River.
Sponsored by the city, the faith-based community and the HarvestHomecoming Committee, "Inspiration Night On the River" will paytribute to all those who have served and are currently serving inthe military. The Develop New Albany Farmers Market, on the corner of Bank andMarket streets from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, will feature "Artat the Market" and "Taste of the Market."
In addition to growers who participate weekly with their produce,artists and craftspeople will showcase paintings, photography,jewelry, pottery, gourd carvings and traditional crafts, includingsoap making, American Indian art, purses and quilting.
"Taste of the Market" will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Chefs fromseveral restaurants, including Orchid, Speak Easy and Studios, willprepare food from the growers' produce for guests to taste. Blood drive at church in Jeff is canceled

The Falls of the Ohio State Park, 201 W. Riverside Drive inClarksville, is offering two programs Saturday:
Canoe and kayak trip, 9 a.m. to noon. Meet at the park'sInterpretive Center and caravan to the river, or meet at the boatramp on Harrison Avenue by 9:30 a.m. Bring a canoe or kayak, a lifejacket, water to drink and sun protection. Children under 16 mustbe accompanied by an adult. Canoes and kayaks can be rented bycalling Canoe Kentucky at (888) CANOEKY.
Outer fossil bed hike, 9:30 a.m. Meet on the deck of theInterpretive Center. Strenuous, three-hour hike is restricted tochildren ages 12 and older. Wear sturdy shoes, and bring water todrink and sun protection.
