The Sunnyside Master Gardeners are holding a "Going Local Week"Sunday through Sept. 6.
The one-week challenge encourages Indiana residents to eat at leastone Indiana locally grown or produced food at each meal. Residentscan shop at any of the four local farmers markets to find locallygrown food:
Jeffersonville Farmers Market at Preservation Station, 100Preservation Place, 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30p.m. Saturdays.
New Albany Farmers Market, Bank and Market Streets, 4 to 7 p.m.Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
Charlestown Farmers Market, on the square, 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays.

The Floyd County Extension Office of the Purdue Extension Serviceis accepting applications for its 12-week Master Gardeners Trainingprogram that begins in January.
An orientation session for the 2009 Master Gardener class will beheld from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Clark County Rural ElectricMembership Corp., 7810 Ind. 60 in Sellersburg. The training serieswill be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays Jan. 5 through March 23 atthe Clark County REMC.
The Master Gardeners program aims to increase the students'knowledge and understanding of such varied horticultural topics asgrowing flowers and vegetables, lawn and houseplant care, plantdisease and insect pest identification and control.
The program is open to anyone interested in gardening. To become aPurdue Master Gardener, participants must attend all trainingsessions, pass an examination and volunteer horticultural serviceto the community through programs approved by the extension office.
The cost for the program is a $100 materials fee and a $25 deposit,which is refundable upon completion of the volunteer hourscommitment.
