Webbey is set to take up the role of racing manager for trainerAnne-Marie Ruttley and her husband, Bob, after the truckingmagnate-turned-major thoroughbred owner offered him the position.
"The way the ratings-based handicapping has come into Sydneyracing, it is becoming harder and harder to place a horse in a raceit can win," said Bob Ruttley.
"It is a big task, so what better way to get around it than toimport the best back to Sydney to help us along?"
Webbey left Racing NSW in controversial circumstances after the losing support of its hierarchy and after a subsequent three yearsin Singapore, last weekend returned to his family in Sydney.
Ruttley said Webbey would start at his Shipton Lodge complex atCobbitty on September 1, taking pressure off Anne-Marie andallowing her to "do what she does best" - which is "concentrate onthe horses".
"We have 30 of our own horses in work and there are another 60pre-trainers at the property," Ruttley said. "By having Mark withus, Anne-Marie can focus on the horses, which are her passion, without having to worry about the administration side of things.
"Mark can deal with all that stuff, booking jockeys, nominatinghorses. He knows every person there is to know in racing. Whatbetter-credentialled person would you want on board with you?"
Meanwhile, jockey Dwayne Dunn has picked up the ride on the GaiWaterhouse-trained group 1-winning mare Tuesday Joy when it runs inthe Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday week.
Nash Rawiller had been booked for the ride but Waterhouse nowrequires him to stay in Sydney for the Golden Rose meeting the sameday after her other stable jockey, Blake Shinn, incurred a two-weeksuspension at Rosehill at the weekend.
Trainer Lee Freedman's Royal Ascot-winning mare, Miss Andretti, hasbeen nominated for this Saturday's McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley, along with Melbourne Cup winner Efficient.
Golden Slipper runner-up Von Costa De Hero is also nominated for areturn to racing at Moonee Valley in the Essendon Nissan Stakes, while Magic Millions-winning filly Augusta Proud is down to run inthe Arrow Training Services Plate.
In other news, the Gosford Race Club has appointed James Heddo asis its new CEO.
